Start Point:- Tarifa, Southern Spain.
Finish Point:- Algeciras, Southern Spain.
Duration:- 11 days in Morocco
1. Brittany Ferries will be releasing their dates for booking in July/August.
2. There is no Wild Camping planned but may happen if we have problems or get delayed.
3. This is a overland tour, some roads will be rocky tracks, others will be new tarmaced roads.
4. Although we aim to be at camp at a reasonable time we may be late if issues or late leaving in the morning.
5. Anyone wishing to travel with us through Spain generally we travel at 60-65mph.
What is included in the cost ?
The Cost of this trip is to join LWA on our 2nd Scouting tour of Morocco,
We completed our first Scouting tour in 2017 and will be going back for more adventures.
What is not included in the cost ?
Any Campsites, Fuel, Food, Ferry's etc all these cost need to be made by the client.

Approx cost of Hotel - £65 double room, inc dinner and Breakfast, £55 single room
Camping:- £6 per night (2 people, 1 tent, 1 car)
Fuel:- diesel:- 0.80p per litre
Total Miles Covered in 2017 (Portsmouth to Portsmouth) :- 2750.
Tolls in Spain :- 7.20 euros (each way)
Ferry UK to Spain:- £650 (including cabin)
Ferry to Morocco:- 162 euros.
Car Insurance at Border - 90 Euro's
(30 days) if you don't have a green card from your insurance company.
Travelling to Southern Spain (and the return) is not part of the tour but anyone is welcome to join on this leg of the journey.
Saturday 31st March
Arriving at Portsmouth for the 8.45 Ferry to Santander Spain.
Sunday 1st April
Arriving in Santander Spain at 14.15.
Heading to Salamanca in Central Spain for an overnight stay.
Day 1 - Monday 2nd April
We meet in the evening at a campsite on the outskirts of Tarifa, Southern Spain.
Day 2 - Tuesday 3rd April - depart campsite 09.30hrs
Leaving the campsite we first travel to a supermarket to allow stocking up of supplies before heading to Algeciras
Ferry port for the 12:00 Ferry to Tangier Med in Morocco.
Today we head to the town of Chefchaouen on the edge of the Rif mountains. This evening we can walk down into the old town and through the painted streets of the old medina strolling through the souks, maybe sitting in the main square taking it all in before heading back to camp, by local taxi.
Day 3 - Wednesday 4th April - depart campsite 09.30hrs
From our Campsite we head the Roman remains of Volubilis for lunchtime, we stop for a couple of hours to allow a look around before continuing our Journey South through the city of Meknes and into the Cedar Forest where we will make a break and maybe see the native monkeys before heading off to our next Camp near Midelt.
Day 4 - Thursday 5th April - depart campsite 09.30hrs
Again we continue to head south to our destination town of Merzouga and the towering Sahara Dune's of the Erg Chebbi. Along the way we pass through the Tafilalt Oasis Towns of Erfoud and Rissani.
Once we arrive it may be possible to take a camel ride into the desert or a short drive into the dunes.
Day 5 – Friday 6th April - depart campsite 09.30hrs
Today's route is an adventurous and challenging desert safari drive. Involving a full hard day of off-road driving across wild desert pistes and salt flats.
Day 6 – Saturday 7th April - depart campsite 09.30hrs
Today we cross the mountain range of the Jebel Sarhro heading north passing through Tinerhir up into the Todra Gorge, tonight we will stay in a hotel within the gorge. (approx price £60/£65 per room including dinner and breakfast)
Day 7 – Sunday 8th April - depart campsite 10.00hrs
After a leasurely breakfast we will today drive the famous Gorge to Gorge route, which goes from the Troda Gorge to the Dades Gorge, this is a 45km trail along river beds and rocky trails taking approximately 4 hours. The rock formation along this fault line is amazing to see.
Day 8 – Monday 9th April - depart campsite 09.30hrs
Today we continue into the high Atlas along an offroad route to Bou Tharar to discover the Ait Atta Berber nomads who live in Caves on the mountainside, stopping briefly for a refreshment break. We then continue our journey into the valley of the Roses before continuing through the Skoura Oasis and pass Lake Mansour Eddahbi and onto Ouarzazate to our campsite.
Day 9 – Tuesday 10th April - depart campsite 09.30hrs
Today firstly heading to see the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah before a leasurly drive following the main N9 route crossing the high atlas to Marrakesh where we will stay for 2 nights, stopping onroute high in the mountains for a break.
Day 10 – Wednesday 11th April
A rest day allowing you to visit the city of Marakesh of laze around the campsite.
Day 11– Thursday 12th April - depart campsite 09.30hrs
We now need to head back north to the Tangier Med and the ferry back to Spain on Friday, today will be along drive of nearly 300 miles of motorway driving, passing Cassablanca and Rabat both on the Atlantic coast heading to our last Moroccan campsite at Moulay Bousselham.
Day 12 - Friday 13th April- depart campsite 09.00hrs
Leaving our Campsite heading back onto the motorway, we still have 120 miles as we head to Tangier Med for 12.00 to catch our 14.00 boat to Spain and the end of this tour.
Anyone who wishes can join us back to the campsite in Tarifa and the following journey back to Santander, as below.
Saturday 14th April - depart campsite 09.00hrs
The Reverse of the outward Journey to Salamenca for an overnight stay.
Sunday 15th April - depart campsite 09.00hrs
From Salamenca back to Santander aiming for 14.30hrs for the 17.15 hrs ferry.
Monday 16th April
Ferry back to the UK arriving Monday at 20.45
Campsites with 1 night in a traditional Moroccan Hotel.
This trip is open to any well maintained 4x4 vehicle. - AT tires required as a Minimum.
Each vehicle will require the following in addition to their normal camping equipment etc.
1 full size Spare tire (2 recommended).
1 recovery rope and shackles
Recovery points front and rear
compressor, tires will need to be deflated to 15 psi for sand dune driving - we also recommend tire deflators.
